Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
The outfielder contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their first championship series following 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Down by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the seven-game series. They will now face the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.
"It's incredible for our team, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."
Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd choose in that moment other than him with his post-season brilliance," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" after his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
