Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
