The acclaimed UK star Dame Helen, currently recipient of an Oscar, several BAFTA honors, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, will soon receive another esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe career honor.

Ceremony Details

Mirren, eighty, previously made a dame back in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in 2014, will pick up this honor in a ceremony January 8, shortly before the primary Globes ceremony take place, within an event billed by the Golden Globes as the “Golden Eve”.

This will also include the awarding of the organization’s Carol Burnett honor for television achievement, the recipient of which has yet to be announced. The prior year’s honorees were Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature, with a career is nothing short of remarkable,” stated the Golden Globes president, Helen Hoehne. “Her brilliant portrayals and dedication to acting continue to inspire countless performers and fans too. We are deeply honored to present her with the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Career Highlights

Helen Mirren became well-known during the seventies via important performances in theater in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect increased her popularity even more. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her portrayal as the Queen in 2006 film The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 within The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings between the queen and prime minister the former PM, a role for which she received a Tony Award in 2015.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

• Subsequent cinematic works comprise Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Her performance in the streaming adaptation for The Thursday Murder Club has garnered acclaim and awards buzz is building around her performance as an ailing family head in Winslet’s first directing effort, Goodbye June.
• Next year, she will appear portraying Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Globes nominations will be announced on the eighth of December, featuring the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
