Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
