LA Explodes in Jubilation as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Second World Series Victory
The City of Angels experienced citywide festivities after the Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-game World Series title. Supporters across the globe united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a team has secured back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Enormous Turnout
Local celebrations featured a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings throughout the city.
Social media videos show countless of Angelenos flooding city center avenues, many carrying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the masses, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the players walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and Ice Cube cruising a light blue classic car around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Celebrations began prior to the parade, with Dodgers fans setting off fireworks in the roads of the city center on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
However, Mark Walter was met with a less warm reception at the celebration. Video footage from the event appear to show Walter taking the stage to a combination of cheers and jeers, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The championship served as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated 225,000 people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, supporters this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” he remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a involved in this.”
