Sweden Squad Announcement: Alexander Isak Included While Viktor Gyokeres Excluded
Viktor Gyokeres joined the Gunners after leaving Sporting Lisbon in July
Arsenal striker the Swedish attacker was left out from Graham Potter's initial Swedish national team selection, while Reds forward Alexander Isak received inclusion
The Arsenal forward is due to undergo more assessments in the coming days amid worries he suffered a muscle problem during Arsenal's Premier League win at the Clarets last weekend
The 27-year-old sat out Arsenal' European win against the Czech side earlier this week
Isak Makes Comeback
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured from late October owing to a groin problem, made the squad to play in World Cup qualifying matches against the Swiss team (November 15th) and the Slovenian side (18 November)
Additional England-based Selections
- Tottenham playmaker the young talent, currently rehabilitating from concussion
- Magpies winger Anthony Elanga
Both athletes were included in the England-based contingent named under former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager the new Swedish coach
Potter's Appointment
Potter was named by Sweden initially for an interim period on 20 October, less than a month after leaving by the Hammers
Former manager Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired following Sweden's 1-0 loss against the Kosovan team in mid-October, an outcome which rendered straight qualification in Group B unattainable
Current Situation
Sweden are currently last place of their qualifying group having only a single point from their opening four games
Should they fail to claim the runner-up spot, they may yet take part in the secondary qualification as a result of their performance in the latest UEFA competition
