The Latest Relaxed Playlist Sparks Intense Discussions Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Wait Times

Recently, the game developers introduced a new playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this mode resembles the regular Breakthrough setup but includes a few notable adjustments:

  • Every squad includes just eight human participants, with the remaining filled by 32 bots.
  • Actions performed by real players grant complete experience points, while AI activities provide lower rewards.
  • Only two maps can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State.
  • Features like Dogtags, achievements, and career stat updates have been turned off.

In short, this mode delivers on its name: it's a casual take of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume it's a good idea, as it gives additional choices for gamers seeking different ways to have fun with the game. However, if video games has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. Which is to say, many BF6 fans are upset.

Community Reactions: Anger to Praise

"Gamers prefer real players. Don't repeat the errors of your competitors," reads a response to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," says another. At the same time, in community forums, a player remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this game," and another lists everything they consider to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, improve hit detection. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist."

On the other hand, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's very fun to warm up, human participants keep it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," says one Reddit comment. "This subreddit doesn't understand that there are players who have lives and can't play this game all the time. Let them find a middle ground," adds another. One reply on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," and someone else praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Valid Criticisms and Player Feedback

Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to criticize the new mode. Some users have highlighted that it will make wait times more extended for other modes because of the sheer number of playlists currently available. On a similar note, certain regions often face mostly bots in the current modes. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of real players, despite it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.

Finally, one of the biggest grievances is that Battlefield Portal was meant to provide complete rewards, including AI matches, but that was removed when they attempted to remove bot farms from the mode. So Casual Breakthrough feels like the player base meeting them halfway, as per forum feedback. Another describes this addition as the devs "making a mistake significantly, I experienced so much fun in the initial release, what prompted them to change it?"

Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur?

Should the development team has proven anything to date with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and responding to player input. Tasks being too difficult were adjusted rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, if their data indicates this new playlist isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
