Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

Netflix announced recently that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Bentham. The role has the ability to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will portray a version of that role reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action show, differing from the original manga and anime.

Escola joins a number of new cast members tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, featuring chief Mr. 0, brought to life by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of Baroque Works, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this marks a significant shift in the placement of their first appearance, one that could indicate additional alterations to the story’s structure.

Their mix of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the role. Besides their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is due to premiere for its second season on March 10, 2026.
