President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

White House Invitation

The president explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Attendees gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in the capital.

“She was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Officials have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the administration to suspend asylum processing and halt providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
